ASSOCIATION OF BREAST SURGERY'S History
The Association of Breast Surgery was established in its own
right in 2010. It was originally part of the British
Association of Surgical Oncology.
The BASO Breast Group was formed in 1995 and was chaired by
Roger Blamey. Its membership originally consisted of general
surgeons, who specialised in the treatment of breast cancer.
In 2002 the BASO Breast Group changed its name to the
Association of Breast Surgery at BASO. Its status as a branch of
BASO ~ ACS was confirmed in the same year. The membership of the
ABS at BASO was extended at this time to cover all members of the
multidisciplinary team.
