An International faculty of speakers will present the latest thoughts on persistent post breast surgery pain. Areas covered include risk stratification of patients, the impact of surgical and anaesthetic techniques and treatment approaches. Although there is evidence for their effect, opioids also are associated with significant side effects in the short and long term. This day will examine these varied aspects of opioids from targeting multiple receptors to a detailed examination of adverse gastrointestinal effects. We will also hear up to date reviews on opioids for non-malignant pain, addiction, the use of opioids at end of life and in paediatric practice from experts in these fields.
